Paul Scholes
Club – Manchester United
Scholes made his debut for Manchester United in the summer of 1994 and made a big impact ever since starring in the first team side. He has been a key member of their champions league side over the years and was an integral part of the Manchester United team which won the 1999 champions league. He was in inspirational form throughout the tournament especially in their semi final tie against Juventus. Scholes is also an England international having taken part in the 1998 world cup, Euro 2000, 2002 world cup and Euro 2004.
David Beckham
Club – Manchester United, Real Madrid
Beckham made a huge impact in Manchester during the late 90’s and early 21st century. He helped them to a number of domestic trophies and champions league success. He was a member of the Manchester United starting line up which won the 1999 champions league. He participated in every champions league match of the 1998-99 campaign and his stunning performance in the final helped United to victory. In the summer of 2003, David Beckham moved to Real Madrid where he has been a permanent fixture in the famous Spanish club since joining. Beckham has been playing for England since September 1996 and was captain for five years.
Oliver Kahn
Club – Bayern Munich
Kahn has been used to vast amounts of success in his time playing football. He won the UEFA Cup in 1996 with Bayern Munich, conceding only one goal in the two legged final against Bordeaux. Three years later, Kahn was in goal for Bayern Munich, who lost against Manchester United in the 1999 final, however to Kahn and Bayern Munich’s credit they came back the following year to win the champions league and Kahn was in excellent form. Kahn’s honours and plaudits aren’t surprising, he made three saves in the penalty shoot out against Valencia in the champions league final two years later. |
