If you haven’t visited Guadalajara yet, you need to put it at the top of the list. The city and its diversity mesmerized me. From fantastic views to the culinary dream, from historical sightseeing to the exclusive shopping experience, you will get it all. I experienced everything I could while I was in this city. It offers everything that you can expect out of the city. Guadalajara is so much more than the beach resorts and the poor villages.
- Go for a show in Teatro Degollado
Go for the folklore dance show where you will find a display of various costumes on dancers and hear the music of all the states of Mexico. The recital is held at the famous theatre, El Teatro Degollado that had been built in the 1800s. With carves statues and pillars, it depicts the upscale theatres that you will find in movies and books.
- Spend some time at the park
This city has great outdoor culture. I spend half of my day at Metropolitan Park and it has been a lovely time. The park has umbrella-shaped trees and is green all around. I saw families spending the day at the park. There are playground, biking, and walking route, and much more. There are many other parks in Guadalajara which is worth visiting.
- Tour Chapala
In case you are heading southeast, you need to visit Chapala. This is a town in between rolling hills. It is filled with greenery at the edge of a lake. I went on a boat ride here around the harbor.
- Tour Tapalpa
This is bit longer drive. It is 2 ½ hours southwest. However, it is going to lead you to the pine forest which you expect to find in Switzerland and not in Mexico. Go zip lining through the forest, walk through old buildings, and horse-riding.
